A full-service commercial photo studio in Shanghai
A 525m² Photo Studio in Shanghai
Studio Dare | 大胆 is not a white box. Exposed brickwork, concrete, natural light in Studio B, and a bar and lounge attached to the shooting spaces rather than tacked on at the end of a corridor. A commercial shoot is a twelve-hour day with a client, an agency, a crew and talent all in one space, and where they sit between setups determines how the day goes. We built the space around that. The studio is run by Milos Gazdic, a commercial photographer who spent seventeen years as a creative director at BBDO and Grey across nine countries before moving behind the camera. We tend to know what your client is going to ask for before they ask.
Two Studios and a Purpose-Built Food Styling Kitchen
Studio Dare | 大胆’s Studio A is 150 m² with a nine-metre cyclorama, 4.2 m ceilings and 380 V / 32 A power. Studio B is 90 m² with natural north-east daylight and a seven-metre working kitchen: a mobile island for the stylist, full appliances, utensils and dishes, and a gas cooker on request. It is one of the very few dedicated food-styling kitchens in a Shanghai rental studio. Rent either studio alone or both together.
Photo and Video Equipment Rental

Studio Rental FAQ
How do I check availability, and how much notice do you need?
Email bookings@studiodareshanghai.com, call +86 134 8284 1408, or reach us on WeChat via the Contact page. A few days' notice is ideal, but if the studio is free we can often accommodate a next-day booking — it's always worth asking. Most shoots are booked as full days, with half-days available on request.
Is there loading access and a goods lift?
Yes. Trucks and vans can park at 207 Ping Liang Road, and a goods lift of roughly 2 x 2 metres serves the 4th floor. Standard flight cases, grip and lighting carts, and rolled backdrops all go up without difficulty.
Is anyone from your team on site during a shoot?
Yes. Our team is in the studio during rental days, so there's always someone on hand for immediate help with the space or the equipment at no extra charge. If you want dedicated support, our assistants can be booked with the studio and assigned to your shoot.
What hours can we shoot? Can we work overnight or at weekends?
The studio has 24-hour access. A standard rental day is any 10 hours between 9 am and 10 pm, and we can accommodate schedules outside that — overnight shoots, early starts, weekends — with additional fees for out-of-hours work and crew transport when public transport isn't running. Let us know in advance so we can arrange it.
Do you have a studio with a kitchen for food photography?
Yes. Studio B has a purpose-built seven-metre kitchen designed for food and beverage shoots, with a mobile island for food stylists, a full set of appliances, utensils and dishes. A gas cooker can be provided on request. It's one of the very few dedicated food styling kitchens in a Shanghai rental studio.
How big are the studios, and is there a cyclorama?
Studio A is 150m² with a nine-metre-wide cyclorama (limbo) wall, 4.2m ceilings and 380V/32A power. Studio B is 90m² with natural north-east daylight. The two can be rented individually or together across a 525 m² space.
What's included in a studio rental?
Wi-Fi, air conditioning, blackout curtains, make-up and dressing area, tech and catering tables, water, and access to the lounge and bar. Equipment, crew and catering are quoted separately. A basic grip kit is included free of charge with any lighting rental.
Can you provide crew, stylists and casting?
Yes. We work with local and international videographers, wardrobe and food stylists, make-up and hair artists, casting directors, art directors and set builders, and handle estimates and budgeting. Our clients include local and global brands, agencies and production houses shooting in China, and we work in both English and Chinese.
What equipment can I rent?
We rent lighting and camera equipment from leading international brands (i.e. Broncolor, Profoto, Aputure, Fuji, Canon, Phase One), plus grip, accessories and consumables. Everything is maintained and regularly tested.
How do I get to Studio Dare | 大胆?
207 Ping Liang Road, 4th floor, Room 408, in Yangpu district — 100 metres from Yangshupu Road station on Metro Line 4. Two stops from Century Avenue in Pudong, five minutes by taxi from the Bund, about 30 minutes from the French Concession. Parking available on request.
Can the studio be used for events?
Yes. The Lounge has a full bar and seats around 30, and connects to a 24-metre gallery corridor with an art-hanging system and adjustable lighting, suitable for exhibitions and launches.
