Here we are with another Studio Dare | 大胆 Photographers' Meet-Up, just a couple of months after our previous one, and we're very excited to welcome you back! We genuinely love organising gatherings and bringing people together to discover new work, exchange ideas, and hear inspiring stories from across photography and the wider visual world. This time, we're especially excited because we believe the conversation will reach beyond photography and connect with an even broader audience.
The Studio Dare | 大胆 Photographers' Meet-Up is a place to meet the people behind the work, share experiences, and bring our photography and production community closer together. Whether you are an established professional, just starting, or simply curious about photography and visual culture, everyone is welcome. We're very excited to welcome Nacho Alegre, whose photography and work with Apartamento many of you will already know and follow. During the evening, Nacho will share the inside story of how Apartamento came to life and evolved into one of the most distinctive independent publications in contemporary visual culture. We'll also hear his perspective on independent media, photography, publishing, creative direction, and working in the industry, along with ideas and experiences that have shaped his professional journey.

Nacho Alegre is a photographer, director, publisher and creative director based in Barcelona. After studying law, he moved into photography, working primarily on advertising campaigns and editorial projects. His photography shows a distinctive sensitivity to objects, architecture and space, often transforming seemingly ordinary situations into quiet, poetic scenes. His background in publishing and strong interest in magazines give his commercial and editorial work a particularly considered visual language. His clients and collaborators include Vitra, Nike, Loewe, Hermès, Diptyque, L'Oréal, Mango, Bally, Phillip Lim and Urban Outfitters. His work has appeared in publications including Vogue, GQ, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, M Le magazine du Monde, Zeit Magazin and The Telegraph, among others.
In 2008, Nacho Alegre co-founded Apartamento magazine with Omar Sosa and Marco Velardi. The magazine quickly became known for its intimate and unconventional approach to interiors, focusing on real homes, personal spaces, and the everyday lives of the people who inhabit them. International in outlook, carefully designed, and well written, Apartamento has become one of the most influential and distinctive interiors publications of its generation.
In 2010, Apartamento received a prestigious Yellow Pencil at the D&AD Awards in London and was recognised as Best Entire Magazine of the year.
In 2015, Apartamento expanded into book publishing as a natural extension of the stories, people, and ideas developed through the magazine. Its catalogue now includes monographs, photography books, thematic cookbooks, architecture series, colouring books, and even a graphic novel.
In 2018, Apartamento Studios became a creative agency, extending the publication's editorial sensibility into projects across culture, design, and communication. Today, with offices in Barcelona and Berlin, the studio draws on more than fifteen years of experience in independent publishing and the wider cultural industries.
In 2026, Apartemaneto's story was presented to Shanghai's coolest audience.
